Navigating Belonging Across Borders

The Heart of Our Work

How We’ll Work Together

My approach is deeply relational and trauma-informed, drawing from somatic awareness to help you safely reconnect with your body’s signals. We don't just talk through problems; we gently explore how your history lives in the present, fostering self-compassion along the way.

What Sessions Are Like

In our first few sessions, our priority is building trust. We start by getting to know where you are now and identifying what 'safety' looks like for you. There is no pressure to dive into difficult narratives immediately, we begin exactly where you feel comfortable.

Moving at Your Pace

Healing is a collaborative process, not a quick fix. We move at a pace that respects your nervous system's capacity for change. By prioritising your boundaries and comfort, we ensure that the progress we make is sustainable and deeply rooted in genuine safety.

What We Can Work On Together

These themes often overlap and intersect, you don't need a specific diagnosis, label, or neatly defined category to bring any part of your experience to therapy.

Anxiety, stress, and burnout

Feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck

Neurodivergence

Self identified or diagnosed ADHD, Autism, and navigating a neurotypical world

Identity, culture, and diaspora

Intergenerational experiences, belonging, and sense of self

Relationships and self-esteem

Feeling disconnected, boundary work, low seld-esteem, or processing past experiences

If you have experienced overwhelming events, whether they were singular moments of crisis or long-term, repeated experiences in childhood or relationships, you might feel like your body and mind are constantly on "high alert."

Trauma isn't just a memory; it’s something the nervous system carries that is experienced in the present moment. I provide a trauma-informed space where we work at a pace that feels safe for you. We won't dive into painful memories before you have the tools to stay grounded and attuned. We can work together on:

Flashbacks and Intrusive Thoughts: Reducing the intensity of "re-living" the past.

Hypervigilance: Helping your nervous system move out of constant "fight, flight, or freeze" mode.

Relational Trauma (C-PTSD): Healing the impact of long-term emotional neglect or complex family dynamics.

Dissociation: Finding ways to feel more present and "in your body" safely.

Shame and Self-Blame: Shifting the narrative from "What is wrong with me?" to "What happened to me?"

Trauma-Informed Framework  (Judith Herman)

Safety is the foundation of our work. The approach I practice to trauma is:

1. Stabilisation First: We focus on grounding techniques and emotional "first aid" so you feel resourced in your daily life.

2. Processing (When Ready): Only when you feel secure do we begin to gently process traumatic events to take the "sting" out of the memories.

3. Integration: Helping you reconnect with a sense of self that exists outside of your trauma.
